About April

I ventured out on my own in 2019, starting my private practice from the ground up. Before that, I worked in a non-profit agency as the only therapist on staff and then moved into a group practice as a W2 employee of the group. I muddled through the process of starting my own business with stress upon stress hitting me from every direction. Being a business owner is one thing graduate school doesn’t teach. All too often, mental health clinicians will stay far away from Private Practice because the task of starting their own business seems daunting and impossible. The worries of not making enough money, not being able to thrive, messing something up, and being totally unsure of which steps to take will all keep clinicians from taking the leap into self-employment. It is my goal to help take the mystery out of Private Practice and launch you into the business you’ve dreamed of. I don’t do the work for you, but I will walk alongside you so that at the end of the journey you can say “I did that!”

If you’re a fully licensed counselor ready to leave that agency, that group practice, the hospital or the schools, my services might be just the thing for you!

If you’re an LPC-Associate or LMFT-Associate who isn’t quite sure what they want to do, but you need supervision and you’d like a Supervisor that will be transparent about the process of owning a Private Practice, including billing insurance, and will prepare you to strike it out on your own whenever you’re ready, then you’ve come to the right place!

Supervision Services

I am a Texas Board Approved LPC-Supervisor and LMFT-Supervisor. Surprisingly, I never actually thought I wanted to be in Private Practice. I was afraid of it and it seemed like a lot of work, a lot of money and a lot of liability. I felt like a fish out of water when it came to even knowing what to do or how to do it! My goal for my Supervisees is that they end up where they WANT to end up if their insecurities weren’t present. For some, that’s Private Practice and for some that’s a hospital, an agency, a school or a group practice. You will learn how to be the best and most ethical version of yourself, how to excel at effective and efficient note-taking and treatment planning, marketing and advertising, how to navigate ethical gray areas, therapeutic interventions and case conceptualizing. If you’re ready to start your journey, reach out to me and check to see if I have a spot available!

Supervision Rates

Individual (2 or less Associates): $100/week

Group (3 or more Associates): $80/week (only offered twice a month and is based on number of supervisees available)

Based on your licensure: 4 hours of Supervision a month is required or 4 times a month is required.

In-Person & Virtual Supervision Available
